The project “Paving the way for the Mediterranean Solar Plan” started on 1 September 2010 with a duration of 3 years. The project was officially kicked off during the Mediterranean Energy Forum held in Brussels on 6 October 2010. Its launching phase was completed at the end of 2010 and its first project report (click here) was released on the occasion of the following Mediterranean Energy Forum held on 9 February 2011. At this occasion, experts from Mediterranean Partner Countries, EU Member States, International Financial Institutions and other international bodies expressed their strong interest in the project activities.
This was also the opportunity to have a panel discussion on financing (click here for a summary) where the value of export potential as regards financing of renewable energy projects was discussed with Representatives from the African Development Bank, the Agence Française de Développement, the European Investment Bank, the KfW and the World Bank.
